I received my final gift from my secret sister this week and I feel in love with it. Cerys sent me the Nora Corbett design Tigerlily and the beads and kreinik that goes with her. I had some Toffee Popsicle Polstitches 32ct opalescent belfast. I decided it was perfect for her and slipped her in as the next one in my rotation (I have no willpower, LOL).. So here is her first ten hours, now back to Pirate Queen. I was amazed how quickly she is stitching up.

So this weekend I got 3 or 4 hours of stitching in and my Pirate Queen now has a face. I am not completely happy with it, but for now I will leave her alone and go on. I am almost done with this rotaton on her and then on to JE Spring Fairy.

Morning Fae is done!!! The only thing not stitched on her is the mountain to her back because our four Shih Tzu's played tug of war with that part of the pattern. I am sooooo Happy. I love the bling and the detail on her!!

I am so happy to finish and ready to get going on to my rotation now. I will start working on my Pirate Queen next for at least 10 hours!

So here she is. Stitched on 32ct Jobelan from Silkweaver. I cried when I finished. She is the first fantasy lady I have ever finished and she will not be my last.

on Miss Morning Fae. Wow, I can almost see an end in sight. My only problem is my chart came apart and I have everything to finish the skirt and the grass around her but the part of the chart for the mountains behind her is lost. So I guess she will end up not having the mountains to her back. I am such a dork, lol. Well here is what is done.

I thought I would never get done with the beads on this section, lol. I hate them but it is worth it. This weekend I finished out that one skirt section with beads and finishing flowers and silver lace. Just two more sections on the dress and then I will be almost done. Hopefully soon.

I have a few days off and the end of the week so I hope to get a lot done :). I am ready to get her finished....I love her, but the blue is a lot.

Pirate Queen's Hat

Well the ten hour rotation on DSOTM Pirate Queen is done and I finished her hat :)..Now I will put 5 hours into Morning Fae and then back to Pirate Queen. I am going to be spending the weekend staying with my mom while she recoups from hip surgery on Thursday so hopefully I will have time to stitch this weekend.

Here is a start on Pirate Queen by Dark Side of the Moon. She is stitched on Polstitches Big Bang Jobelan. The fabric is so soft and pretty and smells yummy, lol. I wish the picture did it justice. I will work about 10 hours on this one and then go back to Morning Fae for 5 and back to Pirate queen, etc and keep adding to my rotation.

Yesterday was the Joan Elliott SAL on the Fantasy Blog. So my project was Iris Fairy by Joan Elliott. I got part of an Iris on the piece started. She is stitched on 28ct Polstitches Colorful Clouds Jobelan (I am falling in love with Polstitches fabric). Now back to the Morning Fae.

Every have one of those stitching weekends. I figured out I had added one too many stitches to my dark blue section of the skirt on Morning Fae, so I tore the whole thing out. Then after completely restitching, and I though counting carefully, figured out I skipped a stitch. So once again tore everything out, ugh. Third time a charm and it is stitched and that blue section is competely stitched including PTB, thank goodness. So while it doesn't look like I made much progress I certainly did a lot of stitching this weekend, LOL.

I can't believe how much detail is in this design. Hats off to Passione Ricamo for having some of the most detailed work I have done. (although I have to say the Castle by Teresa Wentzler definitely beat it in detail, LOL). I got another section of the skirt done and spent most of Sunday just backstitching leaves on the skirt and adding the beads, just to one section. So onward to the next section. Here she is.

in my weekend. I didn't have as much stitching time as I wished for. But I did get some more of the skirt done and was able to see what the bottom of the dress is going to look like, I wish you could see the sparkly kind of lace at the bottom of the dress but it just doesn't show up in a picture.

Anyway I got #195 and it had a freebie celebrating the coming Royal wedding which is a very large chart. I am not into this type of design, but I know a lot of people collect royal memoriabilia, etc., and thought maybe someone might want this. Here it is:

A little reminder to everyone with children and for yourselves, make sure to lather up with sunscreen and keep fair skin covered in the sun even in the fall months when in prolonged sun. Unfortunately I was sunburned rather badly several times when I was a child. Well, I got the word on a biopsy yesterday that I have basal cell carcinoma, and as I was never a sun worshipper as a teen and in my later life the doctor says it all could have begun with those burns as a kid. So take care of your skin and that of your children. :)..

someday I will be back on track. Well actually I stitched yesterday for the first time in weeks and it felt good. Instead of spring cleaning we do fall coming cleaning. And it has been crazy. Okay, I actually am up to section 9 on Inspiration. I have decided to work on it till I finish it. I have to do a couple ornies this next week, but other than that it is Inspiration time.
Here is where I am now.

All of our cats are rescue cats and we are real suckers for a sad story. All were emaciated, some were ill and others were socially awkward, but now they get along really well. We have rehabilitated pretty much all of them. The Maine Coon Mysty is still a little socially awkward but she gets better everyday. She started out staying in a closet in a drawer the first two weeks now she lets everyone touch her and wanders around the house. Great progress I think for three months. Plus she has put on about 5 lbs. You could count every rib on her body when we got her and she weighed only 5 lbs.

we have just been so crazy here at home. We have welcomed some puppies into our home and the kids have had a million things going on and, I know not an excuse. I promise to keep up more regularly.

Yes I have actually gotten a little cross stitch done these days. I have been working on Rosewood Manor's Inspiration. I am up to section 7 and here is what it looks like now. I really love this design.

I also started on Cat Lessons by Lizzie Kate the other night. Only gotten a little way on it. Please forgive the not so great pictures

Long Time no post and My first Finish 2010

Sorry, been hectic here and haven't done much stitching but this weekend I made up for it.

I finished up my AMAP Victorias Sampler. The picture is not very good and I haven't iron it yet. Too much light faded the colors at the bottom of the picture it is much brighter, I will need to take another after it is ironed, lol..but I am so excited it is done. I used lots of different colors for it and kinda made it up as I went along. I had picked out basic colors and it was just a matter of figuring out when to use them. I am happy with how it came out.

I also got more stitches into my HAED Impossible love, I am now up to 1600 stitches done.

oh and we have a new friend. Please meet Reggie our new puppy, he is a one year old Shih Tzu and the biggest baby you have ever seen. He and Esme the cat have sorta made friends (sometimes) lol..

A Little more progress

on Impossible Love. 1200 stitches down only 175,000 to go,.

We also added a couple new family members from catsnap this last month. They were both abandoned in horrible circumstances, extremely thin and in need of somewhere to go quickly.

First is Mysty who is a painflly thin two year old Maine Coon, she is extremely shySecond is Esmeralda Weatherwax, aka Esme. She was abandoned, very skinny and a little wild. She is extremely curious but she is settling in nicely. She is 6 month old dilute tortoiseshell.

We also lost a four legged family member last week, to old age and cancer, our 14 year old black lab Shadow. We had him since he was 1. He is missed, but we had a great run together!!

A New Year and a New Project

I try to start a new project at the first of each year. This year it is Impossible Love by Selina Fenech and Heaven and Earth Designs.
Okay, so page one got gridded and I got just a tiny bit of stitching on it, but it is started. This is one of the first HAED I ever got but have always been timid about starting it, but here we go. This is my year of fantasy pieces. I went through my stash and pulled out quite a few, LOL. Yeah, like they will get done, but I can certainly put a dent in them.

Well Vicki and my moms anyway, LOL.. I posted pictures of my mom's. Here is Vicki's. It is from the Cross Stitch Happy Site. Vicki loves birds so here are hummingbirds.. The first picture is the whole set and the second is the other side and top flap of the scissor pocket. I packed it all in a mesh bag with handles that I got from Down Sunshine Lane to use for projects. The fabric is 28ct white opalescent lugana. Now the Book of Spells piece is another story, no it is not done. Hopefully by the end of the weekend, but at least she knew about that one, :)

I last posted. Been so busy trying to get things stitched for Christmas. I have got to stop putting things off to the last minute.

Here is the arm chair companion I made my mom, I just finished getting it put together. I still have some small snowflake buttons to put in the corners or scatter around it, haven't decided which yet. The pattern is from the Floss Box. The Fabric is Silkweaver Spring Garden Opalescent Lugana 28ct.

Then I started the biscornu in the cross stitch tool set I am making my sister. It will be a biscornu, needlebook, scissor pocket and fob. She feeds every bird for miles around so I thought the hummingbirds appropriate. I got this design free from Cross Stitch Happy's blog. It is on a white 28ct opalescent linen.

I am also stitching her a large needle tool book from Goode Huswife called Book of Spells (she likes halloween). This is stitched on Silkweaver Midas Touch Opalescent Lugana.

I also finished stitching a quaker ruler for my mom but I haven't put it together or taken a picture yet. I will try to do that tonight. :)..

Well hopefully will be around more this week. (that means I got things accomplished, LOL)

I have been waxing nostalgic about some of my old projects that I have, ummm, slowed down on in the past (code word for set aside and haven't done a darn thing on). So anyway, I finished stitching the BBD Flowers for Sarah Needlecase but I am sure it will take me awhile to find the perfect fabric for the back and edges.

I also dug out my old AMAP Victorias Quaker which I am being creative with and making up colors as I go, I know, not always the best idea but who knows. Anyway here it is up to this point, I got quite a bit done on it this week.

Yep, I am slow this month, LOL.

First I received two exchanges!!

First from All Season Ornament Exchange I received an adorable ornie from Jayne P. The design is Boo Moon by Val's Stuff. He is too cute and I love the little moon button. Thanks so much Jayne, I adore it.

Then I received my HOE Halloween Exchange from Suzanne from Australia. This is my favorite Prairie School When Witches go Riding. I love this design and the Halloween goodies were too cute. I love my exchange, thanks so much Suzanne.

I also finished my Ornament Exchange to Jayne and she should have it by now, so I will post it here. On one side is Wicked by Just Nan and on the other Batty Jack also by Just nan. They are stitched on 30ct WDW Peoria Purple Linen.

And I also picked up a BBD design Flowers for Sarah Needlecase. I am actually making it a wall hanging. I am on the last section now..

Finally, a nonstitching picture. These are our three kitties. They don't settle down together too often. The Tortoise shell is Calypso (aka Callie, she is 6 months), the red is Nala (1 year) and the all black is DC (he is 9 years old). DC is not too fond of Callie, LOL. But he adores Nala. No our pets are not spoiled, LOL..

Last Weeks stitching

I did actually get some stitching done last week and over the long weekend. Also decided that I really only liked the center part of Sleepy Hollow and didn't want the sides, LOL. So I moved the moon over to the center and am calling it done. It was just going to be too big the other way and I really was only interested in the center of the design. So I am saying it is finished now and need to frame it.

I also worked on my HAED piece QS Dark Cherry, I am now up to almost 4800 stitches done. Gee, only about 28,000 to go, LOL.. But I do like the colors and am finally getting to work on her and not moon and background.

I also have been able to get some stitches into the Lizzie Kate ABC lessons while the kids have been napping during the day. This one is a fairly easy and quick stitch :)....Well have a GREAT DAY and get lots of stitching done.

I finished Icabod Crane on the Sleepy Hollow piece. It is starting to take form now. I have now started the scary tree on the other side of the horseman. This really is kinda a fun piece to stitch and the Legend of Sleepy Hollow was always one of my favorite stories. (not to mention Johnny Depp looked fantastic as Icabod, LOL)

Some Weekend Stitching

I have narrowed myself down to two main pieces I will be focusing on. Not that I won't stitch other things as I go along, but these will be my primary.

First I worked on my QS Dark Cherry all of last week. I know it doesn't look like much accomplished but I did get some done.

I also picked up Sleepy Hollow that I started last year. I got the headless horseman done and started on Icabod and his horse. I hope to at least get this center piece done before Halloween. This is a triple piece by Cross-Eyed Cricket. You can see it here. I will continue working on this one through the week, then probably go back to Dark Cherry on the weekend.. The fabric is opalescent Enchanted Fabrics Hocus Pocus.

Weekend Stitching

Well I did get some done, not as much as I would like, but some.

I finished up Vicki's Birthday Present on time. Happy Birthday Vicki! It is LHN Roses on Impie, Hattie and Bea rose pocket. (and the pink trim is not that pink, more of a mauve)

and got some HAED Stitching worked on too. This is where I am with Dark Cherry. Since I had to start her over again I am much happier with over 2 stitching on 40ct than I was with over one on 28. I know she won't be quite as defined but my stitching is much neater and much easier for me.

I received a wonderful ornament from Jill for the All Season Ornament Exchange. This one was stitchers choice and she sent me some wonderful blackbirds (my favorite).

I finished the stitched part of Vicki's present now all I need to do is add it to the pretty rose pocket it goes on :).. Please excuse the pins was just testing it out, LOL.

Well it is that time again

to look at where I am so late in the year. I do this every year and this year has been a messy one. So I have not been able to stitch as much as I like and I have some pieces I really want to finish. So I have pared down my currently working on list to the following: HAED QS Dark Cherry, Mirabilia the Kiss, HAED Sisters (which my sister Vicki and I are working on together), and Sleepy Hollow. I definitely want to get Dark Cherry done by the end of the year, but I figure I need to put 2 weeks worth of time into her each month, so we shall see.

I figure I will do small projects as I go in between. I need to do an ornament for ASOE and at the Needle Nook we are doing charity bookmarks, so I will be doing that too :).

So no pictures today, but hopefully tomorrow I can show you the birthday present or at least the stitched part, I am working on for Vicki :)>.

This weekend I didn't get as much as I wanted done but.

I did finish an ornament for the All Season Ornament exchange Stitchers Choice exchange. I made this freebie into an ornie for my partner. she said that she liked sheep, and with help from a friend I found this freebie. It is a little different shape for an ornie, but I wanted to do something different.

Then I started Velcome Garden from Down Sunshine Lane on some very pretty opalescent Evergreen lugana from Enchanted Fabrics.

Stitching and Stash Diving

Good Morning. It was a fairly productive weekend. I finished an ornament for an exchange, working on Vicki's birthday present and found a fun project that had been lost away. I also working on my ABC Lizzie Kate piece.

The down side: I figured out that I was using too small a piece of fabric for Vicki's present now have to start all over again (Ugh)..

This is the little more I added to the Lizzie Kate ABC Lessons

This is a sampler I did in 1988. It was when DMC was pushing their new variegated fibers. I don't even remember where the design came from, I wasn't keeping track. I do know it was kind of a pain to stitch because you had to separate the floss from light to medium and then medium to dark to get the effect needed for the design :).. Now I need to reframe it.

And finally here is the ornament I made this weekend. It is from Milady's Needle Quaker Christmas smalls. I put the name of the recipient on the back.. Wish I took better photos. Well that is all for today. Have a great week everyone!

I received the most amazing exchange from Vonna yesterday. I adore this box. It is a design I have been dying to do myself. It is Homespun Elegance ~ "Witches Stitch Too!"
Fabric: 30 ct. Straw Weeks Dye Works. She was so afraid she took to long on this one but it was so worth it. I treasure this wonderful box (yes, I am a Halloween freak, LOL). Thank you, Thank You, Thank You Vonna. Oh and as you can all see it is completely finished with Vonna perfection :)..

I actually Got things Accomplished this weekend. Vicki and I worked together on this sewing pocket for my Mom's birthday. The pink ribbon and blue buttons are not so bright but much more subtle, LOL. I finished up Spongebob.Then I finished Hannah's Rr for Witching for Stitching. This is my cat from Prairie Moon.

I also started an ornament for my ornie exchanges. I am working on an aida bag for my mom for her birthday with all the families first names on it. Hope to get it done by Tuesday evening. Cross your fingers, I can't work on it when she is around, LOL..

Started on a LHN To Thine Own Self be True for my Mom for her birthday. Vicki and I are both stitching on it and then going to put it onto a sewing pocket and make a small fob and needlebook to go with it..

I am working on this Spongebob to make a pillow for a young penpal I have. It is on a very pretty Silkweaver Opalescent Solo 16ct aida I had. I usually don't have aida so I don't know where it came from but it turned out to be perfect for this design, it is not as purply as it shows in this picture.. I hope to finish it this weekend.

I finished the Needlebook cover for the LHN Traveling stitcher. Today we are going to finish them up and attach the stitched pieces to the finished pocket.

Then last night I just wanted to do something quick and easy so I stitched Sweet Sentiment a freebie by Linda Palmer. I love the saying. It seems to be what I need this year, LOL. It is stitched on an opalescent linen with Carries Creation Epiphany Silk floss.

Finally Back!

I really fell of the world for awhile, stopped stitching and just cocooned, but now I am back. I started stitching again this last week. I got quite a bit done actually for not having stitched much at all the last month.

This is a little surprise I am working on for my sister. Her birthday is in August. It will go in a trivet frame. The design is Sisters-Best Friends from Hobb Nobb.

The picture below is Just Nan's Whimsy summer made into an ornament for an exchange. It is outlined in beads and the handle is made of beads.

Finally the above picture is a blurry shot of my 2 over 40ct restart of my HAED Black Cherry. I am enjoying it much more than 1 over 28. :). And the colors are really bright.

I have now started on LHN Traveling Stitcher piece. I am gonna work on a few little ones to get my mojo going and then get back to the biggies.

I had to restart my HAED Black Cherry this weekend. A couple of reasons. First I tried to stitch on it while I was ill and really messed up the counting. Secondly, since my health issues, I find I my concentration just a little off (probably some of the meds) so one over 28 just gets me messed up. So I started her over again on 40ct over two. For some reason over two is easier for me right now. It will be larger so we will just how to see how it turns out. I'll post some of it that I have done tomorrow.

I finished Vonna's RR piece this weekend end. It is Cross-Eyed Cricket - Two Familiars, Nevermore. I used DMC for the Raven. I hope she likes it. I only have one more RR piece to do in this one and then we are finished, wow, that went fast..
