Year of Selfish Stitching 2008

At the Needle Nook we are starting our Year of Selfish Stitching on the First of January. There will be SALS and other things to keep us all going. I have spent so much of the last year stitching exchanges and realize that if I put that much time into my own stuff, I could accomplish great things, so here goes. BTW, I believe my year will take a couple of years, LOL..

This is the pincushion I stitched for my sister Vicki for Christmas. He is Voodoo boy by Haberdashery Designs. I made him a little less scary and she loves him.. I used Silkweaver 32ct Belfast Solo to stitch him on. You can't tell completely from the picture but it is blue and purple.

NN Ornament Exchange

I am so lucky I got this absolutely wonderful ornament pocket from Robin today. It was the brightest spot in my day and so lovely. It is Dragon Dreams and I had wanted to make it for my tree and now I don't have to, and it is made so much better than I would have. Thank you so much Robin. She also sent a Christmas Lights flashing necklace which I wore around the daycare this afternoon, the kids loved it and she also sent the cutest snowman ornie with my name on it, 2 wonderful smelling vanilla tealights and lots of candy (which we all know I really need,LOL)...

SBEBB Bourse Exchange

This is the lovely package I received from Dawn. Isn't the bourse too cute!!! I love it and all the goodies that came with it. I am wearing the socks in the daycare today for the little ones to see..

the picture below is of the bourse I sent Amy. She received it yesterday....The design is taken from a AMAP Quaker project. It is stitched in Peoria Purple from WDW.

I made this scissor pocket for my SS partner Amy on the Needle Nook BB. It is the Alyssum Scissor pocket stitched in CC Belle Soie Cranberry on 36ct Antique white linen..

NN Ornament to Robin and F&S Received

This is the ornament I made for Robin in our exchange. It is a trilogy design, but I forget the name of it right now. I sent it so that it would be there when she got home for Christmas!!

And here is the package I received from Jill F. in the 4th Round of Fair and Square (I had two names)..What a Surprise and so pretty..I love everythiing. Thank you Jill.

Stitching and F&S received

I really have been stitching I just can't show them all off yet. I can show a few though.

Here is my Great Grandmother Christmas gift for my mom, well at least part. I want her to pick out the charms and frames for the design after Christmas. She has 6 Great Grandchildren and I have mini frames for pictures of each of them..

Then I finished this rooster fob for Vicki to go with the rooster scissors I got her. She is starting a scissor collection which I hope to help her fill out this Christmas.

Then I made this design for a friend of my Mom's. This will be Cara's gift, when it is finally framed this week.

I also received my Fair and Square from Neila. It is a Bent Creek I believe, Isn't it cute! I absolutely love them!!! Thanks so much Neila!!! You did a beautiful job stitching these!!

SBEBB Ornament Exchange from Karin

This is the lovely bell ornament I got from Karin. It is a very pretty shade of Christmas Green. She also sent a very cute snowman stitch kit and a lovely card. Thanks so much for brightening my mailbox and my tree.

SBEBB Christmas Ornament for Judith

Judith received my package today, so I guess it is okay to post now:)...The design is from a magazine but I feel in love with it, it was just too happy. I believe the designer is Sweet Pea..The back design comes from another CS magazine and for the life of me I can't think which one right now, LOL.

Happy Mail Day

I received a couple of fun things in the mail today. First I got my SBEBB Rabbit's Big Day exchange from Andrea. It is the cutest bunny flatfold. It is the first flatfold I have ever received, I have never tried to make one. It is beautifully stitched and finished. And I used to have a spotted rabbit as a pet when I was a teen (many, many years ago). And she sent a wonderful chart from my wishlist with the fibers. Andrea you were so very generous. Thank you so very much..I can't thank you enough, it made my day!!

Then I also got the cutest hand made card as some floss in the mail. I don't know who exactly it is from, but I love it. Whomever you are, I thank you so much. It is always so much fun to receive surprises in the mail!!

As far as my stitching goes, I finished my ornament for the NN exchange and started on the Greatgrandma design for my mom for Christmas. I am using the Hinzeit Grandmother and changing it to work. I am getting pictures of her great grandchildren for my sisters and brothers and then I bought very tiny charm frames to put on the design. It is looking pretty right now (although I only have 3 letters done, LOL)..

This week I need to make a few Christmas Gifts and work on my bourse for SBEBB..

SBEBB Rabbit's Big Day for Marika

Here is the needlebook/scissorkeep I made for Marika out of the Twisted Oaks Pyramid Etui and a saying in the Antique Sampler Magazine. She received it today, so I can now post it!!

It is stitched with Dinky Dye silks and on 36ct antique white linen..

I got this lovely bourse, and lots of fun goodies (including some of her beautiful handdyed floss) from Aniza. Isn't it pretty!

I also finished my SBEBB Christmas Ornament...Now I am starting my NN ornie :)..

This is what has been finished on a RR for a CSRR group I am in. I did the top 1/4 of it. It is a Native American Brave. The colors are very bright.

And this is my start on the Ackworth Friendship book. I think I can finish it up tonight!

I finished my SBEBB Rabbits Big Day Exchange and am mailing it out today!!! I also started my Ackworth Friendship book. I hope to finish my Countries RR which I am a few days late on but stuff got it the way. It appears everyone is a little behind on it!! Hopefully I can get a lot accomplished in the next couple weeks. I am going to pick out a couple ornament designs and try to get those done this weekend!!!

Fair and Square from Marg

This is the fair and square piece I received from Marg in Australia. She was also so generous and sent me JN Hummingbird Heaven. I really like the delicate look and feel of this piece it will go very nicely in my book

On a stitching note: I finished the Rabbit's Day exchange on SBEBB and will be sending it out this week!! Now to pick out some ornaments!!

SBEBB Harvest Time Exchange for Katrina

I used the LHN Acorn Hill for the design for this Pinkeep and scissor Fob for Katrina. This has to be the smallest Fob I've ever made, LOL..

Finished my LHN Specific Designer exchange!!! And I think it is one of my best creations!! I can't wait until I can post a picture. It is on it's way in the next few days. It has a very long trip ahead of it!!! On to my next project!!

Stitching on Exchanges

right now and am not able to get any pictures at this time. I am pretty sure my Harvest Time exchange should have arrived at it's new home by now since I sent it priority mail last Thursday! Hopefully I will be able to post it in the next day or two. Hope I don't have to worry about it getting there along with the one that hasn't shown up in Australia yet :(....

Ackworth Friendship book

A group of us and going to be stitching the friendship book together. Each of us has our own chart and we will each chose the color of floss and fabric and then we will each stitch a page for each other. Here are the colors my book will be and also a picture of the chart!

SBEBB Harvest Time Exchange

I received my exchange package from Jeanne and it is wonderful. I love the way she finished the Bent Creek design and would love to try it myself on one I have to do!! The whole package was fantastic! She sent me two wonderful charts from my wish list, threads, fabric and CHOCOlate, LOL..Isn't it pretty!!!

I finished Dawns RR but forgot to take a picture before sending it. It is a small grey/black cat! Her's is a Halloween RR. Tonight I'll get to work on the LHN exchange!!

Stitching

I got a spurt of wanna, so I am working on Dawn's RR and it should be done tonight. I will mail it out tomorrow. My Harvest Time exchange is on its way and I have the LHN exchange to get to work on more. I also have a RR that needs to head out by the 15th...I want to get the LHN done first because it has further to go!! I am trying something different with it, so I hope it works out.. Hopefully I'll have a few pictures by early next week!!!

A Mini stitching slump

had soo much other stuff to get finished had to bypass stitching for a little bit. But I am ready to get to work. My Harvest time exchange is getting finishing touches and is ready to go. I have two small rrs to get done and I have picked out the LHN for the specific designer exchange!! My F&S piece is taking forever to get to the recipient I hope it isn't lost in the mail :(.. Hopefully I will soon have some things I can post pictures of, until then here is a picture of our burning bush, that came out beautifully this year..

I received a wonderful Halloween Exchange from Debbi. The box is too cute, I adore the design and the little ghost inside is just too cute!! And all the goodies were wonderful. She even got one of the charts from my wish list. I love Just Nan!!! Thanks so much Debbi..

This weekend's finish

was a fair and square set of pieces. I thought that this design respresented our home the best since peonies are practically a state flower here, I think almost everyone has some in their yard, LOL.

USEBB Halloween Exchange for Melissa

I stitched the Drawn Thread "Boo" Scissor Pocket on 32ct Silkweaver Solo Linen...Instead of making it into a purse I added beads all around the side and just made a scissor pocket. I put her initials and the year on the back. I always wanted to stitch this design. It was lots of fun!
